When I was a kid, my dad and my uncle brought for my cousins' and I white rabbits that we kept in my grandma's backyard. I loved those rabbits, especially when they have lots of babies; we took good care of them, fed them, and we used to put milk in a bowl for them to drink from for the babies' rabbits. As a grown person, I still love animals, especially elephants, but I do not have pets at my home (They need attention and work as I heard). Please share your favorite pet or any animal you love.

Feeding elephants some carrots in South Africa.
Oh Sarah! One of my very favorite subjects!!!
Lola and Rik:

They look so beautiful.
I like their names. π
Did you feed the carrots to the elephants?
From 1984 until 2000, our dogs were Jack and Otto. Marie Roberts painted their portrait in the late β80s.
I like the drawing π
@Dennis Buonagura i love the portrait of Jack and Otto. Brings to mind the Maira Kalman max book.... I think ohhh Alla Max in love.
@Dennis Buonagura the reference is in βMax Makes A Millionβ. My copy gone in the great book heist, I had to work hard to find it on line...
And from 2006/2008, our dogs are Hazel and Olive. Arlene Horton painted their portrait in 2010.
@Dennis BuonaguraThatβs such a sweet portrait!
Yes I did, I have to put the carrots inside their trunks (nose) they have a very hairy trunks.
Bristly hair? So they then feed themselves nose to mouth?
Yes, exactly π
Very cool! Did you ride the elephants? I have read a very vivid description of an elephant ride which I found fascinating. Iβm going to have to give it some thought. I may be able to recall the source.
No, I did not ride the elephants at that time, but I had ridden on a back of an elephant before when I was young with my father, and another time I rode it at a carnival in New Jersey 2016. I have to admit it is a little scary to ride an elephant.
I bet it is! so high up and such a scale difference between elephant and human.
A group of turtles or I think it is a family gathered at Central Park's lake.
Whaaaaat?!? Central Park! How cool.
Yaa I know, Central Park is full with animals π
I love drawing animals at Central Park.
How wonderful!
I spent a year at the Bronx Zoo drawing the animals. The lions you g cubs and are a lithograph. They were subsidized by Whitney Houston.
I liked these wonderful drawings that illustrate the beauty of animals.
Actually I have never in my life went to the Bronx Zoo, I think I should go after seeing these drawings.
This photo I took reminded me of your 3rd drawing of two animals sleeping.
It is a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes. Maybe one of these days we can go together,
Ilove this Villard DβHarnoncourt Lion. I used to think it was awkward but now that I have lived with felines for so long I see this drawing in them.
Positive Tails is a charity who helps pets and people, this was donated to their fundraiser. All the animals are rescues.
Oh wow, that is amazing π
@bitterwonder Marie these are beautiful animal drawings. And Banner!!
i think they Bronx Zoo has improved a lot since I was a kid. I was so freaked out by the old dark reptile house that Iβd opt to sit on a bench while my father and brother went in. They on the other hand loved it so much it left me what felt like hours to sit and think. Something Iβve always enjoyed doing!
I am always amazed at what ine can fi d in NYC. Like Henri Rousseau traveling within the Paris Public Gardens, I like to think of myself finding everything here.
This is an African elephant!
I found these fabulous Angora goats that people use their fabric to make yarn made from their hair; they dye it with any color, then sell it, called it Mohair yarn. And because I love to knit and crochet, I had to buy some, but I still did not use it, the thread is very technically a fine laceweight, but it has so much body and blooms that is preferred to use on US 3-6 needles.
wow - someone I know gave me some of that yarn (same color, too!) as a gift - and I haven't used it yet either! US 3 needles? OK - I think I have those.
Can't wait to see what you are going to do with your yarn. I thought of doing a textured v-neck vest that I can wear over a shirt in the fall.
Watercolor of Rik
This is amazing, I love it π
@jennifer.r.dodson not enough hearts π to post for how much I love this!!!!!! πππβ£οΈβ€οΈπ§‘πππππππ
This is me feeding some giraffes in San Diego last yearπ
I love Giraffes; they are exquisite animals. They have a long, violet color tongue that wraps around food and then puts it in its mouth. I think you noticed that as well.
They really are! when it took the food it kind of wrapped its tongue around my whole hand lol it was really interesting
ππ
@TJ Edgar does the giraffe have a blue tongue?!?
