Ed Rath (he/him) was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After completing his art education at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design and the Yale University School of Art, he moved to New York City in 1977. He lives and paints in Brooklyn, New York.

Since 1980 he has participated in over eighty group shows, and produced thirty solo shows. He has shown his work in Austria, Japan, South Korea, New York, and throughout the USA, and has published fivebooks about his art work. His work on Dream Imagery and Animated Trees, produced by filmmaker Mark Khaimov, can be seen on You Tube.

Ed has worked as a Teaching Artist for over forty years, working with students of all ages in NYC, Japan, and other locales. His lesson plans incorporate the study of old master works, poetry, and drawing from observation.
