The first week of ART YARD BKLYN Summer Session 2026 was an overwhelming success!

Programs accomplished we are in Summer planning mode! This week: AYB Artists to report on studio projects, exhibitions, and books.

Our final week of programming for the AYB Year of Migration was everything we could hope for – chock full of exuberant artmaking, lively conversation, inspiring art history, and celebration of the work we have accomplished. Plus Summer Session 2026 schedule. 🌈

Imagining our own personal galleries and tour busses, meetings, installing and docent training at school. Plus awards, art and opportunities.

Third Spaces in concept and in action, painted birds completed, opening at ART YARD Gallery at PS 6, and lots of art news and accomplishments to share!

What leisure looks like to us, endangered species puppets, birds, migration and fish, and more. Gemini season is upon us!

This week in AYB on zoom, in the studio, in the school and out in the world we have been making collages, drawing, painting and more!

This week in Advanced Studio we created artwork about our communities, and celebrated Passover mulling over the Exodus story and the underground railroad. We have been looking at art in person near and far, and an invitation to a panel talk!

This week in Advanced Studio we explored artistic representations of Orishas on zoom. In person we had a pirate themed session. At PS 17 students learned grid drawing, linear perspective, and collage. Plus we saw some awesome spring art exhibitions!

We celebrated Women’s History Month on zoom and created sculptural lockets in person at Advanced Studio, while our school programs in Jersey City continued full tilt with an extra-packed schedule. From farther afield: our exhibition Hold Dear is now on view at Small House Gallery in London. Meanwhile, AYB Artist Ed Rath has been in Kansas speaking at the Salina Art Center.

Celebrating the start of spring with festive crowns, inspired by Aboriginal Artist Emily Kam Kngwarra, painting self-portraits, and larger-than-life women we admire! Plus art to see and a spring recipe!
