We are on winter break, but here is a sneak peek at what we have been up to & a heads up for next week's Advanced Studio sessions!

It has been a n inspiring week as we explored silence, celebrated light, & looked at Brooklyn Architecture over time. We also taught AYB inspired sessions at work, visited studios, performed in musicals, finished huge paintings, saw some art & read a good book.

This week AYB artists were inspired by Chinese Astrology & Barkley Hendricks landscapes. We are gearing up for classes at PS 6. And we have lots of art to share, and exhibitions to recommend!

This week AYB has been manifesting the New Moon introspection and renewal! We kicked things off on Zoom by exploring the phases of the moon, then dove into zine-making at 180 Franklin, focusing on the theme of non-native species. We are so excited to have lead a huge seasonal printmaking session at PS 34. And tickets are now available for our Movers & Shakers Benefit Party on November 22!

This week at ART YARD BKLYN, we were creatively, conceptually, and collaboratively inspired with a vibrant celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at our partnership school PS 34, our adorable vintage photos on zoom, and a playful Advanced Studio in person art making & other exciting art news and opportunities.

This week at AYB: We depicted our Hearts on Fire on Zoom, practiced limited palette color mixing in person, and trained docents at PS 34. As usual there is art news from the community — and save the date for our Movers & Shakers Gala Reception on 11/22!

Travelogue paintings zoomed from Barcelona to Brooklyn, a powerful snapshot of places we have been in-person, student art on view at PS 34, and a few bits of other art news.

As many of you know, a devastating five-alarm fire destroyed our studio, supplies, tools, and archives last Thursday night. The impact has been enormous—both emotional and physical. And yet, we move forward—lifted by the generosity and solidarity of this extraordinary community.

Love goes to buildings on fire. And, yes, we will survive.

With renewed energy and joyful purpose we are back to ART YARD Art Matters in the school, Advanced Studio zoom and in person. Plus we have art and books to share, & recommend!
