I hope August 2023 is going well, that you are finding time for your studio, relaxing and feeling inspired! We are excited to jump back in as 2023-2024 is the ART YARD year to Do Something!
We invite you to join us Friday September 8, 6-8pm at The Gallery at 180 Franklin Avenue, Brooklyn for the opening of Earth Mothering.
The artworks in Earth Mothering span drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, embroidery and quilting, and represent each artist’s ideas about what it means to mother ourselves and each other, choosing whether and when to become a mother, and mothering the earth. Threaded together, these works by Golnar Adili, Marilyn J. August, Sarah Gumgumji, Yeon Jin Kim, Meridith McNeal, Elizabeth Morales Romero, Iviva Olenick, Carol Paik, Karla Stangel Prickett, Ed Rath, V Tineo, and Ethany Uttech, suggest an eco-feminist present and future where deep regard for ourselves, others and the earth are commonplace and serve as preventative rather than emergency care.
ART YARD Advanced Studio in person in our studio at BWAC in Red Hook, Brooklyn resumes on Tuesday September 12th, 6-8pm. We will concentrate on core art skills as we help ART YARD Artists preparing portfolios for school applications. In the first session of her series exploring still life drawing, Teaching Artist Candy Heiland will have us drawing from observation.
ART YARD Advanced Studio on Zoom resumes on Monday September 18th 5:30-7:30pm in a class taught by ART YARD Artist Eden Moore. We are excited this date worked out as Eden will soon after be back in London to resume film school!
