Making art from home with ART YARD

ART YARD CREATE has become an active part of our website where ART YARD Artists including Advanced Studio participants, teaching artists, students and friends are sharing artwork and ideas.

We now have three CREATE Inspiration prompts. The artistic medium is up to the artist – whatever we have available to us at home.

On the CREATE forum we are sharing work in progress, making connections to other artists and art history, and asking each other about materials and methods.

I am collecting the work for each thread in our CREATE Galleries:

The current view of the CREATE Gallery page:

When you click on a particular gallery you can view the collected work. If you hover your mouse over an image the details of the piece are visible.

This week at ART YARD partnership school PS 6 students, teachers, administrators and school community posted images of themselves reading.

Thank you Librarian Nadene Bracken for including my post!

In addition to this fun project, Dennis had a phone meeting with School Art Teacher Angela Tardiff to discuss art projects for our students during this virtual learning time.

ART YARD at MS226 is in our second week of presenting classes via Google Classroom. Students can view our lessons and images of inspirational sample artwork. Through this platform we are able to engage in a group dialogue about the project and to have one-on-one conversations specific to students art submissions and questions.

In our first session students depicted their hand in such a way to convey emotion:

This week students will be working on a still life of objects in their home which are important to them at this time.

Our friend Artist/Director of FiveMyles Hanne Tierney sent a link to Exquisite Corps (42 choreographers, 1 dance). I really enjoyed it, and think you will as well.

Please join us on CREATE. If you find the format challenging, you are welcome to email me (frida@artyardbklyn.org) your images and text and I will post for you.

Best wishes for continued heath and inspiration,
